Cellar Mas Vicenç

Cellar Mas Vicenç

D.O TARRAGONA

Mas Vicenç is located in the Cabra del Camp district, at and altitude of 500 m, between the Miramar and Cogulló ranges, bordering on the Conca de Barberà. The altitude and climate are good for wine growing.

From a family with a wine growing tradition, the winemaker has found the perfect scheme for making wine from the old vines in combination with young vines of well-adapted varieties, using the most innovative methods from the south of France. The winery is integrated into the family farmhouse, a traditional Catalan building in which the different facets of the lives of farmers have had a place for generations.

The reconstruction of the winery area began in 2004, in order to produce wine from the 2005 harvest: “first Mas Vicenç vintage”.

This process has been carried out respecting the original structure of the farmhouse, while at the same time adapting it to the new winemaking techniques.

It consists of 404 m2 distributed in four rooms: Vinification room, aging room, bottling room, storage room.

Vermouth Padró & Co

Vermouth Padró & Co

Tradición vinícola desde 1886.

The wine-making origins of the Padró family date back to the year 1886 and to the village of Bràfim (Tarragona), which was, at the time a busy agricultural hub with around 400 inhabitants.

The very first sales were of wines and liqueur wines loaded onto carts in large but basic barrels and sold directly from there by the first generation of wine-making Padros: Daniel Padró Porta (1846-1890) and his wife Rosa Valldosera. At the time, they ran a fairly humble establishment with just one press and a small amount of distillery equipment for making spirits and anise liqueurs.

The second generation Daniel (1875-1953) and Juan (1878-1966) Padró Valldosera, joined the business at a young age, in the absence of their father and it was these two brothers who gave PADRO’s industrial activity a real entrepreneurial push. They moved the distillery to larger premises – at the current site of the winery and in 1916, built the first the three main buildings that make up Padró & Co. today, adding a further warehouse in 1932.

The third generation, the children of these two brothers, Daniel Padró Armengol (1914-2013) and Francisco Padró Busquets (1906-1993), decided to discontinue production of vermouths and other spirits in order to focus on the production of wines and a range of dry and sweet liqueurs.

All wines produced were sold in bulk form until 1960, when the fourth generation, Francisco (1934), Daniel (1936-2008) and Jose María (1943) Padro Armengol began bottling some of their production in glass and also in wooden boxes for the cooperative stores of large companies existing at the time.

The fifth generation, currently in charge of the winery, are following the same philosophy as their ancestors and producing quality bulk and bottled wine, liqueur wines and vermouths and have taken care to make sure their company keeps up with the times as regards modern wine-making processes and technology (tangential filtration, continuous tartaric stabilization and so on…) at their bottling plant as well as extending the Padró family vineyards and implementing a new grape reception and wine storage facility.

Vives Ambròs Cava

Vives Ambròs Cava

VIVES AMBRÒS CAVA (sparkling wine) Appellation of origin: CAVA TARRAGONA Vives Ambròs is a well established family business dedicated to grape and wine making that dates back five centuries. Located in a small municipality called Montferri in the Alt Camp region, the cellar is located in the main square of the village. The cellar has been renovated to locate the sparkling wine bottles inside the underground old tank of typical tiles, where wines were made many years ago. Today our Cava ages slowly over a long period of time in the darkness of our caves. Our artisanal work is part of Vives Ambròs philosophy. Experience developed both in the vineyard and the cellar together with the diligent treatment of each vine, each bottle and each process is rewarded by a Cava for the most sophisticated palate. Therefore, hard work in the vineyard, together with limited production, wine matured from 2 to 7 years, bottles hand turned in the rack, manual disgorging, stamping of the disgorging date on the label, has resulted in a well organised and conscientious process from beginning to end, recognised by the many prizes won both in competitions and guidebooks. Padró Winery

Padró Winery

The winery was founded in 1886 by two brothers, Joan and Daniel Padró Valldosera, though old documents which have been unearthed prove that wine had certainly been grown here for a long time before that.

The history of VINS PADRÓ spans five generations, through which the work and dedication of our ancestors has survived and continues to this day. Now the new generation is in charge of contributing its knowledge and applying it to making wine and the cultivating the vines.

We have managed to improve and adapt our existing facilities, adding the latest wine making technology to produce high-quality wines.

Ageing takes place in American and French oak casks.

Since 1960 we have been bottling our wines in a plant set up at our own winery.

Crianza wines are made with the grapes obtained with the oldest vines. The cellar includes 650 barrels of American and French oak.

The geographical area where our winery and vineyards are located is within the Tarragona Denomination of Origin.

It is the oldest wine denomination in Catalonia. Its wines were prized as far back as Classical times, when they were exported to Rome.

The white grape varieties cultivated here include macabeo, muscat, parellada and xarel.lo. From these grapes we make our white wines – these varieties provide freshness, acidity, balance and fruity aromas.

Varieties such as Chardonnay have been included to diversify the range and the style of the wines according to the demand of new markets. This is also the case of Sauvignon Blanc, which provides wines with a touch of elegance.

The red grapes include the ull de llebre (tempranillo), which is the predominant variety here. It gives light, fruity wines, both red and rosé.

Merlot has gradually been introduced to new wines to bring them finesse and aromatic nuances. The result of its vinification is wines with strong colour and texture, ideal for ageing in oak barrels.

Cellar Clos Montblanc

Cellar Clos Montblanc

D.O CONCA DE BARBERÀ

Our wineries are located in Barberà de la Conca, in the midst of the landscape surrounding the Cistercian route, a region with thousands of years of tradition, where we can obtain wines with a unique character. Geologically, it is also a very special location; it is a rich, balanced, calcareous terrain, full of nuances, offering optimum qualities for wine growing. Our red wines are imbued with all the aroma of the ull de llebre variety local to the area, and of the foreign varieties, merlot and cabernet. The white wines are based on the smoothness of the macabeu grape, traditional to our region, combined with chardonnay and sauvignon blanc, which gives them a perfect balance. The rosé wines are made with trepat, an autochthonous grape, making them some of the freshest and most aromatic. Our cellar, equipped with the latest technology, has a capacity of 3 million litres of wine and has 34 fermentation tanks (with capacities ranging from 30,000 to 750,000 litres), a pneumatic press for turning the grape into must, and two horizontal dams. Cellar Carles Andreu

Cellar Carles Andreu

D.O CONCA DE BARBERÀ

Our family has been involved in wine growing since the 18th century. In our family archive, we keep the document of purchase of the Celdoni de Forès farmhouse in 1781. Today, the family owns about eighty hectares of vineyards in the Conca de Barberà, where mainly the traditional varieties of the region (macabeu, parellada and trepat) are grown. Our vineyards are distributed over the districts of Pira, Forès, Sarral, Solivella, Barberà de la Conca and Montblanc. In 1991, Carles Andreu, following the family tradition, set up the winery that bears his name. It was a small winery located in the town of Pira and situated on an old “Cal Celdoni” site, making use of the vats in which the wines had previously been fermented, respecting the perimeter and architectural forms of the house, built in 1796.
